The purpose of this column, at it’s heart, is to provoke the reader. The reason game related writing has been able to flourish to the extent that it has is not because there is such a proliferation of unique theses, but rather because seeing another put into words their proposed solution to a problem often provides us with the path to a solution of our own. Given such an abundance of preexisting material, it is very difficult to present anything of a completely original nature; one is forced instead to present those selfsame issues in a way that is not often seen, and hopefully provide some alternate conclusions to be integrated into the reader’s own philosophies.
